Our board is comprised of volunteers dedicated to supporting CMPD Animal Care & Control.
Dena Cohen President
Originally from Jacksonville, FL, Dena has supported various shelters from Florida to North Carolina through fundraising, policy, legislation, and strategic initiatives for 10 years. She works at the Belk corporate office planning events for 300+ stores and looks forward to bringing her various experiences to Shelter Pet Enrichment Fund. Steve Wood Board Member, Treasurer
Steve is a native of Massachusetts who moved to North Carolina in 2008. With a background in education administration, he currently works in learning and development within the greater Charlotte community. Steve thoroughly enjoys his two adopted rescue terriers--senior rat terrier Lil' Bit and junior parson terrier Max. These rescues continue to show him the benefits of giving a dog a second chance. Steve is looking forward to helping SPEF grow and provide even more support to Charlotte rescues.
Krystal has always loved and been fascinated by animals – from domesticated pets to wild beasts. While she doesn’t have any pets right now, Krystal has been a devoted CMPD Animal Care & Control volunteer since July 2011, doing everything from walking and training dogs to fostering dogs and cats. She is so excited to be a part of the Shelter Pet Enrichment Fund and the amazing things SPEF will accomplish for these animals!
Emily is a manager at Compass Group; her background includes layout, design, sales and marketing. Her career is balanced with active participation in her community and her family, which includes three rescued "children". Emily hopes to make a positive difference through her position on the Shelter Pet Enrichment Fund board.
Emily Jackson Board Member, Branding
I am a native Mississippian and avid Bulldog fan who moved to Charlotte from Nashville, TN in April 2014. Here, I am working at Compass Group as a graphic designer. I spend my free time either with my two rescued rabbits, Oscar and Poe, meeting new people, or exploring Charlotte. I am hoping to grow SPEF's brand recognition through my experiences as a designer and marketer.
